Giant pumpkin wows the crowds during street sale
The fourth grand annual street sale took to the roads of
north St Margarets on Saturday.
The sun shone down on the giant street market when householders
set up stalls in Northcote Road, Heron Road, Newry Road,
Haliburton Road and Talbot Road, selling everything including
antiques, home produce, books, toys, clothes and bric a brac.
Here, Allan Lawrence and Ellie Morgan, pictured, are just
about holding on to a mammoth hybrid pumpkin/squash grown
on the Cole Park allotments.
The mouthwatering produce they had on sale in Northcote
Road included tomatoes, beans, including a variagated black'
variety named countrywoman, plums and basil, along with homemade
jams, piccallilli and bottled guerkins.
